Job Summary: Assists in surveying land by performing the following field duties.

Essential Duties: Reports for work at 6:50 AM each workday.

Performs rod technician position duties.

Learns how to use field instruments and maintains instruments in good working order.

Operates all field instruments including levels, Theodolites and GPS equipment.

Operates a calculator for various survey applications. Performs checking procedure for field information -- peg-check a level, circle closure, and double angles, etc.

Performs Basic First Aid when required.

Comprehends, and follows the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) safety manual.

Runs all data collection equipment.

Monitors project-related, on-site issues and provides input for production improvement.

Participates in continuing education classes identified as important to improve skills or to keep current on survey issues.

Assists in training rod technicians to accurately measure with a steel tape, level rod and prism pole and set up a tripod.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two to three years related survey experience and/or training preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent driving record and valid Florida driver's license. Must be age 21 to drive a company vehicle.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.

May be exposed to severe weather conditions including heavy rain, hot and humid conditions and sun exposure, uneven terrain, swampy or wet areas, and may be exposed to wild animals, alligators, snakes, bees and other insects.
